Arambol, Mandrem, and Morjim (The Quiet North)
These three beaches sit close together, just south of Pernem. They’re the closest beaches to the airport and share a laid-back, low-key feel.
Arambol draws backpackers and long-stay travelers. It has a cliffside lake and live music in the evenings.
Mandrem is quieter still, with fewer crowds than Arambol.
Morjim is known for its expat community and turtle nesting site. Beach access changes slightly during nesting season (November to March).
If you want calm beaches without a long drive, this cluster is your best bet.
Ashwem (The In-Between Beach)
Ashwem sits between Mandrem and Anjuna. It’s less crowded than the southern beaches but has good beachfront dining, including some well-known restaurants right on the sand.
Good pick if you want quiet with a few more comforts than Arambol offers.
Anjuna and Vagator (Flea Markets and Cliffs)
Anjuna is famous for its Wednesday flea market, one of Goa’s oldest. The beach itself has a rocky headland rather than a long sandy stretch.
Vagator sits just north of Anjuna. It has dramatic red cliffs and Chapora Fort nearby, a popular sunset spot.
Both work well if you want a mix of beach time and sightseeing.
Calangute and Baga (The Busy Belt)
These two beaches sit next to each other and form Goa’s most crowded, most developed stretch.
Calangute has the most beach shacks and water sports options.
Baga is known for nightlife, with clubs and bars along Tito’s Lane.
Pick this belt if you want easy access to shopping, food, and nightlife, all close together.
Candolim (Quieter, More Resorts)
Candolim sits just north of Fort Aguada. It has fewer crowds than Calangute or Baga, with more resorts and a slightly older, more relaxed crowd.
Good choice for families or anyone who wants beach access without the busiest crowds.

Tips for Your Airport Transfer
- Book your taxi before you land. This avoids long queues and unclear pricing at the arrival gate.
- Share your exact hotel address. Many beach areas have narrow lanes. A pin location helps your driver more than a hotel name alone.
- Check the season. December and January bring heavy traffic near Calangute and Baga. Add extra time during these months.
- Ask about round trips. If you’re visiting multiple beaches in one day, a round-trip taxi often costs less than several one-way rides.
